New England winters may feel like the perfect opportunity to embrace the cozy aspects of life—warm drinks, cozy books, and quiet time at home. But New Hampshire’s capital city keeps the fun going all winter long! In January 2025, two signature events will capture visitors and residents alike—contrasting the icy cold winter season with warm and exotic plants and flowers.

Winter Fest

Bundle up for some outdoor fun, because The Hotel Concord and Intown Concord are hosting their annual cold weather festival January 24-25. The highlight of the event is a sparkling array of ice sculptures. Watch these talented sculptors work, and get ready for the big competition between artists on Saturday!

The event also includes a Food Truck Festival, Hot Cocoa Tour and wine tasting. Learn more and see a full schedule of events on Intown Concord’s website.

Art in Bloom

In perfect contrast to Winter Fest, Art in Bloom invites visitors into the warm Kimball Jenkins mansion and carriage house to view artwork paired with stunning botanical arrangements. This event is hosted annually by Concord Garden Club January 23-25. The Club recruits talented floral artists from the area to create interpretations of existing art pieces. This year, the gallery will be filled with work provided by the Women’s Caucus for Art: NH Chapter.

Each floral designer will select an art piece for their inspiration. They work quickly before their flowers fade to craft a one-of-a-kind piece that sits alongside the original artwork in the gallery. It’s so much fun to view these interpretations side by-side… especially when two floral artists have selected the same art piece for their inspiration.

This year’s Art in Bloom theme is “The Invincible Within”, which is inspired by a quote from French writer, Albert Camus.

“In the midst of winter, I found there was, within me, an invincible summer.”

This concept will truly come to life right here in Concord, NH as visitors will be able to experience the frosty fun of New England winter at Winter Fest, and then transition to the warm, inviting, floral experience of summer. We hope you’ll visit New Hampshire’s capital city during this very special time.
