Learn fiber arts in Concord, NH

The Elegant Ewe, Concord NH

Winter is the perfect time to pick up a new hobby, and Concord has so many opportunities to learn new skills and build community around your passions. This winter I have been obsessed with knitting, and found some great places in the city to build my skills and connect with other hobbyists. Read on for my tips on learning fiber arts in Concord, NH.

DIY Craft and Thrift

Located in the heart of downtown Concord, DIY Craft and Thrift is a hidden gem for fiber artists. This unique space not only offers affordable crafting materials but also hosts workshops. You’ll also see inspiring art pieces on display—including from Queerlective! When I first picked up knitting, the sales people in this store were incredibly helpful, offering simple tricks that helped me get started—even outside a workshop setting. Whether you're a beginner looking for a guidance or an experienced crafter seeking some great deals on supplies, this is the place to go.

Kimball Jenkins

Kimball Jenkins is a hub for inspiration! They offer a wide range of classes in painting, ceramics, drawing and more. But check out their embroidery classes if you are looking to build your skills in fiber arts. Plus, Kimball Jenkins hosts a Friday night art hangout every week, where you can bring a project and connect with other creators.

The Elegant Ewe

A longtime favorite for knitting and fiber enthusiasts, The Elegant Ewe is both a specialty shop and a learning hub. They offer a variety of knitting and crochet classes for all skill levels. Whether you want to bring your own project, work on the same project as the rest of the class group, or take private lessons, their knowledgeable staff is always happy to provide guidance and recommendations.

Paradise Quilting

Located on Manchester Street, Paradise Quilting is a haven for quilting enthusiasts. They offer a variety of quilting classes, as well as a great selection of fabrics and supplies. Whether you're looking to learn the basics or expand your quilting skills, this shop provides a welcoming environment for fiber artists.

Other Places to Explore

While these are some of the standout spots in Concord, there are other nearby opportunities for fiber art lovers:

  • League of NH Craftsmen – With its headquarters in downtown Concord, the League occasionally hosts workshops for aspiring artists.

  • Local Libraries and Community Centers – Keep an eye on their event calendars for free or low-cost fiber art classes.

  • Michaels & Joann Fabrics – These craft stores occasionally offer beginner-level knitting, crochet, and embroidery classes.

Whether you're picking up a new hobby or honing your skills, I hope you’ll get cozy this winter and explore Concord’s fiber arts offerings. Happy crafting!
