great shops

There are more than 20 towns and cities with the name CONCORD. All have their own claim to fame. Our New Hampshire Concord is a low key kind of place, and we are not much for bragging.  But, one thing is for sure, some pretty cool stuff is made and sold here. Yes, we built the Concord Coach, but the spirit of innovation lives on!

Company C is headquartered here, and has a great outlet shop on Storrs Street, a block from Main Street.

Founded in 1994, husband and wife team Walter and Christine Chapin started Company C in a garage behind their Concord home. Color, design and adventure lead the inspiration for Company C, a leading manufacturer of unique home furnishings sold nationwide. C is for Color. Their use of saturated colors and over-scaled patterns free us to be 0ur most creative.

An old Concord farmhouse serves as Blake's All Natural Foods corporate offices. It’s a reminder of the legacy of Clara Blake, her son, Roy. Clara Blake ran a 25-acre farm in Concord, in the hard years before World War II. After the war, Clara’s son, Roy, made fresh-dressed turkeys the sole focus of the business. By the early 1950s Roy’s son, Charlie, saw a path in the family business. Charlie attended the Thompson School of Agriculture at the University of New Hampshire.

One day in the spring of 1970, Charlie found himself with some extra turkey meat in the farm’s kitchen and decided to experiment with his Grandma Clara’s recipe for turkey pot pie. He cut the vegetables by hand, made the gravy and crust from scratch, and baked a dozen pies in the oven. He loaded them in the back of his ‘67 Chevy van, drove to St. John’s Church on Main Street, and began selling turkey pot pies out of the back. And he realized he was on to something. All these years later, Blake’s is still using the finest natural and organic ingredients.
